Abstract

María Elvira Lacaci was an award-winning and anthologized Spanish poet. Two of her three poetry collections received national awards. The themes that underpin her poetry are the relationship with God and social concerns. She was one of the most authentic religious poetic voices of 20th century Spain. There are no studies that address her complete, still unpublished poetry. This work aims to start a systematic study of her religious poetry. For this purpose, her poems published in anthologies on religious themes are characterized in this paper. This approach reveals an ascetic writer that battles for her faith, and a mystic who receives divine messages without spectacle, in the middle of the street and in the hustle and bustle of daily life.
